Zimbabwe’s government wants to bring company registration online

The only way currently of registering a company online in Zimbabwe is via an agent. These will charge you a premium of at least $100 per each company you register. If you intend to register a Private Business Corporation (PBC) you have to part with at least $70 or more.

According to Justice Minister Ziyambi this is set to change as the government is embarking on a modernization drive of the Companies and Deeds office. At an estimated cost of $78 000 the initiative will see most aspects of registration brought online. This means people will able to register their businesses online.

Currently the only thing you can do online is a name search and even this has to be done at either the Bulawayo or Harare Company’s registration offices. Other items still have to be filed and submitted in person and in hard copy format.

All part of the effort

The new government has been making a concerted effort to bring in new investments especially from Zimbabweans abroad and foreign investors. Easing the formation of companies will go a long way in boosting investor confidence.
